Mary Parkinson is with Roger Fulton...
Had a super interesting experience on a beautiful afternoon at Lake Woodruff/Visitor Center yesterday. A University of Florida professor and 3 graduate students filmed their interview with Roger Fulton, who is a Florida Master Naturalist, about the Naturalist program and Roger’s contributions through his books and nature walks. Roger and Randa Robinson-Anderson, another Florida Master Naturalist, reviewed a slide presentation of Roger’s book, Safe in the Woods Guide, which has 20 easy lessons to prepare for being out in the woods safely. Following the presentation, interviews were filmed outside at the Center picnic area and gardens. The interviews, afternoon activities and knowledge expressed how important it is to preserve nature and know how to enjoy it safely. The words of these Florida Master Naturalists accentuated the value of preservation of nature and natural habitats for the enjoyment to future generations.
Roger has numerous books available about nature/trails, biking/trails, law enforcement (Roger is a retired NY State Trooper), as well as his very interesting autobiography. Highly recommend his books.
Following the interviews, Roger led the group on a nature walk on the dykes at beautiful Lake Woodruff where we saw ducks, anhingas, many turtles sunning themselves, and, of course, gators, big and small. Roger shared his extensive knowledge of Lake Woodruff with the group. A good time as had by all! There is nothing better for the soul than being out with nature!
